To those whom much has been given, much is expected.
These words have special meaning for us.
Forum Salon enjoyed 25 successful years in the New Orleans area, until Hurricane Katrina sent 15 feet of water into the salon, leaving it in total ruin. Like many others, we evacuated our home in Plaquemine Parish and came to Baton Rouge.
Other setbacks followed, including a diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Thanks in large part to the people of Greater Baton Rouge, we were able to re-establish Forum Salon in Towne Center Lodge with great success.
It is our privilege to now share our good fortune with others in our adopted community who are experiencing hardship or adversity in life.

We Love Our Community
A local and independent nonprofit, Cancer Services opened in 1959 to serve the tangible needs of people living with cancer in Greater Baton Rouge. Over the years, the agency’s scope has evolved to empower cancer patients and their families by helping to meet the financial, educational and emotional needs that arise during the cancer journey. All services are free of charge. Cancer Services serves a ten-parish area that includes Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana Parishes.
The journey requires compassionate care at every state. Cenikor’s professional staff provides that care and guidance for adolescents and adults--from detoxification through short-term inpatient treatment and long-term residential programs, as well as outpatient and after care programs. During the journey, Cenikor’s clients learn to look within themselves and come to terms with the root causes of their addictions.
Smile Delivery Foundation is a non-profit, 501© (3) organization benefitting children with life-threatening illnesses. They deliver “smiles’ to children during their extended hospital stay and other special occasions.
For Smile Delivery, a “smile” means: kind words of encourage, gifts, love, hugs, cards and prayers. Referrals from Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospjtal make it possible for Smile Delivery to personalize gifts brought to the children. Parent bags are also filled with shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, body wash, a bath puff, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, snacks, bottled water, an encouraging book, a roll of quarters and other items as they become available. The goal is to provide comfort, strength and hope to children facing unimaginable journeys.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge has been actively striving to understand and fulfill the needs of the poor within Baton Rouge and the surrounding community since 1865.
The Society is here to aid the most vulnerable members of our community. Through various programs, St. Vincent de Paul reaches out to those in need. It provides hot meals to those who would otherwise go hungry, warm beds to those who would have no place to sleep, medications to those who could not afford them on their own, and the mandatory uniforms that children need to attend school. By fulfilling these basic needs, The Society of St. Vincent de Paul does more than address the needs of the moment; it gives a hand up, not a hand out. This helps better the lives of those it helps and moves them towards self-sufficiency and a better quality of life.
CLL Global Research Foundation began as a concept from patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The idea was to provide a spotlight on CLL and to accelerate CLL research. Therefore, CLL Global is committed to accelerating progress towards the control of CLL and ultimately finding a cure for the disease as quickly as possible. To accomplish this, CLL Global promotes a novel structure for research. They preferentially fund projects that translate into rapid clinical applications. CLL Global prides itself in complementing, rather than replacing, other funding mechanisms by accelerating new ideas, which allows researchers the opportunity for increased funding from other resources.
We shall be the premier cancer center in the world, based on the excellence of our people, our research-driven patient care and our science. We are Making Cancer History.
